The standard green PE braid
Choose Standard Green when you want the ordinary Vicious braid offering as a working mainline. Its current chart includes a pronounced diameter step between 30 and 40 lb, so matching test labels to an old or generic braid table can misstate capacity. The coating is described by Vicious as resisting fading and water absorption; this is not the separate No-Fade product.

Choosing your Vicious Standard Braid strength
Select test for the rod, lure and cover, then use the Standard Braid diameter. At 20 lb the current chart is .007 inch, not the generic legacy figure.
The chart moves from .009 inch at 30 lb to .013 inch at 40 lb. Keep that published step rather than smoothing or interpolating it.
Use the larger tests only where your tackle and fishing justify them. Backing can occupy spare spool volume without choosing a thicker braid simply to fill the reel.
This is a source-based specification and setup guide, not a hands-on review or comparative performance test.

Check Standard rather than No-Fade
These figures belong to Standard Green. A similar green color on a No-Fade package does not make it the same specification.
Use a deliberate working section
The default 150-yard supply can be used over backing where the reel holds more. Choose enough for casting, fish runs and future trimming.
Manage the first wraps
Use the reel-approved braid attachment method, maintain even tension and check for buried wraps after heavy loading.
Vicious Standard Braid questions, answered
No. Standard Green and No-Fade are separately named products. These diameters come from the Standard Braid chart.
Why does capacity change sharply from 30 to 40 lb?The official chart lists .009 inch and .013 inch respectively. This guide preserves that step instead of interpolating a missing diameter.
Are bulk lengths available at the checked tests? The exact current variants for these 10-65 lb tests list 150, 300, 1,500 and 3,000 yards. That does not imply live inventory.

Checked September 13, 2026 against the official product information linked below. Official inch chart values are used as published; mm is explicitly converted. Braid packing is still sensitive to winding tension. Offered specifications do not establish current stock; this is not an independent diameter measurement.
Calculations use the catalog's listed inch diameters. Published inch and millimeter values may differ slightly because of rounding.
