Sunline Assassin FC Fluorocarbon
Sunline Assassin FC Fluorocarbon
Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide
Assassin FC is Sunline's P-Ion-processed fluorocarbon main line. The current US range starts at 8 lb and uses a 225-yard retail package, making its purchase planning different from a typical 200-yard fluorocarbon spool. Its diameters also differ from FC Sniper at matching strengths.
- Construction
- 100% fluorocarbon; P-Ion surface processing
- Listed strengths
- 8-25 lb
- Line type
- Fluorocarbon main line
Is Assassin FC right for your setup?
Consider Assassin FC for a fluorocarbon main-line setup where you want to compare diameter, handling needs, and package value. Sunline attributes surface benefits to P-Ion processing; this guide does not independently measure them. Choose a manageable diameter first, then decide on a full fill or a shorter section over backing.

| 8 lb | 0.0094 | 0.240 | 225, 660 |
| 10 lb | 0.0104 | 0.265 | 225, 660 |
| 12 lb | 0.0116 | 0.295 | 225, 660, 1200 |
| 15 lb | 0.0134 | 0.340 | 225, 660 |
| 17 lb | 0.0142 | 0.360 | 225, 660 |

| 25 lb | 0.0163 | 0.415 | 225, 660 |
Choosing your Assassin FC strength
Assassin FC 12 lb is .0116 inch, not FC Sniper 12 lb's .0112 inch. That small difference matters because the capacity calculation uses diameter squared. Selecting only the brand and pound test would miss it.
The 15, 17, and 20 lb steps use .0134, .0142, and .015 inch respectively. Compare the resulting working length with your casting and cover needs rather than assuming all three will behave alike on a compact spool.
The current verified range does not include 6 lb. Do not select an unsupported 6 lb entry simply because older catalog data or another Sunline model offers that strength.
This is a specification-based setup guide, not a hands-on Assassin FC performance test.

Use the 225-yard package amount
Compare your plan with 225 yards when buying the standard retail package. This can cover a different number of partial fills than a 200-yard spool, but cutting the package in half is only useful when each half meets your fishing needs.
Check bulk size by strength
Assigned variants include 660 yards across the verified range and a 1,200-yard option for 12 lb. A dropdown option on its own is not evidence that every strength comes in every length.
Inspect before reusing backing
Backing saves working line only when it remains sound and securely attached. Replace damaged backing and keep the joining knot below the line normally used during fishing.
Assassin FC questions, answered
Sunline identifies Assassin FC as 100% fluorocarbon. P-Ion describes its processing; it does not mean a nylon core with a fluorocarbon coating.
Can I use the FC Sniper capacity number?Use Assassin FC's own diameter. Matching pound tests can differ in thickness, so a copied result may overstate the amount that fits.
Does 225 yards always fill my reel? No. Select your reel and exact strength to compare the full-spool estimate with the package. Add backing intentionally or obtain more main line when the plan requires it.
