SpiderWire EZ Braid

Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

Original blue SpiderWire EZ Braid Moss Green package showing 15 lb, .20 mm and 110 yardsOriginal 15 lb / .20 mm / 110-yard package photographed on a retailer host. Photo date and individual SKU are not established.

This guide follows the original blue EZ Braid Moss Green package labels for 10, 15, 20 and 30 lb. They print physical diameters of .18, .20, .23 and .30 mm respectively, each with 110 yards / 100 m. These undated package photographs are the diameter source; the different kg-rated European catalog range is not combined with them.

Plan a braid section from a small filler spool

The documented 110-yard packages suit planning one measured working section, with backing where the reel needs it. Choose a nominal strength appropriate to the rod, reel and fishing, then check that the working section leaves enough reserve for a run and later trimming. A different brand's braid diameter is not a substitute for the EZ Braid label.

The numbers behind the setup

SpiderWire EZ Braid diameter chart

Undated original Moss Green EZ Braid labels only: 10/.18, 15/.20, 20/.23 and 30/.30 lb/mm; each 110 yd / 100 m. Millimeters are printed; inches are conversions. The adjacent Test Dia pound figures are mono-equivalent comparisons. The photos do not expose individual SKUs or UPCs, and no formulation date or current-stock continuity is claimed.

Choosing your EZ Braid strength

The four original labels pair 10 lb with .18 mm, 15 lb with .20 mm, 20 lb with .23 mm and 30 lb with .30 mm. Use the diameter belonging to the package you choose.

The separate 3, 4, 6 and 8 lb Test Dia phrases are monofilament comparisons. They are not alternative braid strength ratings.

All four photographed packages say 110 yards / 100 m and Moss Green. No 300-yard or Hi Vis Yellow specifications are inferred from them.

The historical European catalog publishes a different kg-rated range with different SAPs. Matching a familiar pound value by conversion would not establish package identity.

ReelCalc transcribed original manufacturer labels; it did not measure diameter or test casting, abrasion resistance or breaking strength.

Backing, working line & leaders

Read both numbers on the label

Match the nominal pound test and physical mm diameter on the blue EZ Braid package. The smaller Test Dia pound figure is a comparison with monofilament.

Budget the working section

Start with cast distance plus reserve for a run, trimming and retying. Keep that total within the 110-yard package and the reel's usable capacity.

Add backing where needed

Follow the reel maker's braid attachment instructions. Calculate backing below the chosen braid section, and keep the connection below the line used during casting.

Check before fishing

Wind evenly under appropriate tension and stop at the specified spool clearance. Inspect stored line and test your knots before use.

EZ Braid questions, answered

Which label number is the braid strength?

Use the large 10, 15, 20 or 30 lb rating. The smaller 3, 4, 6 or 8 lb Test Dia figure compares diameter with monofilament; it does not rename the braid.

Is the inch diameter printed on the package?

The reviewed EZ Braid labels print millimeters. The inch values in this guide are calculated from those millimeter values, not separately published measurements.

Can I use the European kg chart instead?

Not as a direct replacement. That historical range has its own SAPs, diameters, lengths and kg strength column, without a nominal-US-pound mapping.

Does this cover 300-yard or yellow packages?

No. The numeric source photos show only 110-yard Moss Green packages. Other packages need matching original evidence.

Are these current-production specifications?

The photographs are undated and their front labels do not expose individual SKUs. This reference does not establish manufacture date, storage condition or continuity with every later package.

Specifications & sources

Checked September 13, 2026 from readable manufacturer labels photographed on an eBay host. A separate photo corroborates the 15 lb row. The saved manufacturer US feed lists corresponding strength/color/110-yard combinations but provides no diameter; its SKU numbers are not asserted to be visible on these front photos. Retailer-entered tables are excluded.

Calculations use the catalog's listed inch diameters. Published inch and millimeter values may differ slightly because of rounding.
