The diameter chart covers 6-25 lb; this photo does not change with the selected strength.

Reaction Tackle's 100% Pure Fluorocarbon, scoped to Clear variants at 6-25 lb. The manufacturer supports both mainline and leader use; the 125- and 300-yard options differ from the short 50-yard supply packages offered at selected tests.

Mainline or a separate terminal section

Use the larger packages when fluorocarbon will be the working line you cast, and decide leader length separately when using it ahead of braid. Do not confuse this product with Reaction's fluorocarbon-coated nylon. The checked diameter rises from 0.34 mm at 15 lb to 0.40 mm at 17 lb, so even a small step in the test label can change spool volume substantially.

Choosing your setup

Choosing your Reaction Pure Fluorocarbon strength

Choose the test for the rod, presentation and cover before estimating fill. Fine 6-10 lb line and thick 20-25 lb line have different handling demands.

The official 15/17 lb diameter step is 0.34 to 0.40 mm; use those exact values rather than interpolating a smooth progression.

A 50-yard supply package is not a normal full-spool assumption. It may suit terminal leaders or a deliberately short working section, while longer fills need an appropriate package.

This is a source-based specification and setup guide, not a hands-on review or comparative performance test.

Backing, working line & leaders

Choose the role first

For a full mainline fill, estimate reel capacity and compare 125- or 300-yard packages. For leader use, select terminal length instead of filling the reel with the whole supply.

Keep backing below usable fluoro

A shorter fluorocarbon working section can sit over backing. Leave enough usable line for casts, fish runs and retying so the connection stays buried.

Distinguish the coated product

Reaction sells fluorocarbon-coated fishing line separately. Use the package explicitly labeled 100% Pure Fluorocarbon for these numbers.

Reaction Pure Fluorocarbon questions, answered

Is this the coated 350-yard line?

No. Reaction's fluorocarbon-coated nylon is a separate product. These rows are 100% Pure Fluorocarbon.

Are 50-yard packages leaders only?

The manufacturer allows this material as mainline or leader. Fifty yards is supplied length, not a prescription for how long the leader should be or a guarantee of a reel fill.

Why does 17 lb take noticeably more space than 15 lb?

The current official chart lists 0.40 mm at 17 lb and 0.34 mm at 15 lb. Capacity follows physical diameter, not equal pound-test increments.

They are manufacturer specifications rather than ReelCalc measurements. Offered specifications do not establish current stock; this is not an independent diameter measurement.

Calculations use the catalog's listed inch diameters. Published inch and millimeter values may differ slightly because of rounding.
