Maxima Ultragreen actual manufacturer product package

Maxima Ultragreen is the moss-green monofilament in Maxima's U.S. range. This guide uses diameter and yardage fields attached to specific manufacturer variants, with mainline packages separated from short Leader Wheels.

Is Ultragreen right for your setup?

Ultragreen is a candidate for a green mono main line across a broad range of strengths. Maxima emphasizes toughness and abrasion resistance, but that does not make the smallest diameter safe in heavy cover or the largest diameter pleasant on a compact spinning reel. Package names need attention: Mini Pack, One Shot, Maxi and Service describe families whose actual lengths vary by strength.

Choosing your setup

Choosing your Ultragreen strength

For 6-10 lb, the official diameters are 0.009, 0.010 and 0.012 inch. The step from 8 to 10 lb occupies more space than the labels alone suggest; check the selected reel rather than extrapolating from another Maxima size.

The 12-20 lb group includes a real 18 lb option. Treat each offered strength as its own row and use the inch specification, with metric shown as an explicit conversion.

Ultragreen extends well beyond ordinary light tackle. The very heavy rows are source specifications, not recommendations for the example spinning reels; select appropriate conventional tackle and drag for the intended fishing.

This is a specification-based Ultragreen setup guide, not a ReelCalc hands-on casting, abrasion or breaking-strength test.

Backing, working line & leaders

Match One Shot to strength

The current U.S. fields give 250 yards at 6 lb and 220 yards at 8-18 lb. Do not replace them with regional meter labels or an assumed universal 300-yard fill.

Separate leader wheels

The evidence here excludes the small Leader Wheel and leader-coil package types from mainline purchase choices. A leader package is not a default full-spool plan just because the material shares a name.

Choose full fill or sound backing

A continuous Ultragreen fill is straightforward. Reusing sound underlying line can reduce the amount replaced, but leave sufficient fresh working line above the knot for runs, casting and trimming.

Ultragreen questions, answered

Is Ultragreen the same as Maxima Braid 8 Ultragreen?

No. This page is monofilament. Braid 8 Ultragreen is a braided product with different construction and diameters, despite the shared color name.

Is every One Shot spool the same length?

No. The manufacturer assigns yardage to each strength-specific variant. This guide preserves those U.S. yard fields instead of using a family-wide length.

Are the millimeter values independently published here?

No. This evidence set publishes inches in the variant fields. Metric values are calculated as inches multiplied by 25.4 and are marked as conversions.

How much Ultragreen fits my reel?

Use the selected Ultragreen diameter with your reel's published capacity. Pound test is a product strength label, not a universal diameter. Stop filling at the reel manufacturer's recommended level.

Does Ultragreen require backing?

Backing is optional for a full mainline fill. It can make sense under a shorter fresh working section, but the connection must stay below normal casting depth with enough reserve for runs and retying.
