Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide
Original manufacturer package photograph. Strength-specific length and diameter come from the separate quarter-pound table.
The original Destron Monofilament artwork binds diameter and yardage to a quarter-pound spool. This guide includes the checked 8, 10, 12, 15 and 20 lb sizes. It is not the later Destron Essential 300-yard product, and the checked original listing is currently unavailable.

A bulk spool with strength-specific length
Quarter-pound describes the amount of line by weight, not a fixed reel fill or common yardage. The chart lists 3,191 yards at 8 lb and 1,172 yards at 20 lb; the thicker line supplies less length in the same nominal package weight. Plan each reel fill from the actual diameter and keep a running allowance for sections already used.

Original US-listed DESTRON MONOFILAMENT manufacturer artwork, Spool Weight: 1/4 LB. Five assigned strengths only; 6 lb excluded. No current availability guarantee. Both inch and millimeter values are printed and independently rounded. The 10 lb pair is .009 inch/.22 mm, not an exact unit conversion.
| Strength | Inches | mm | Spools (yd) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 lb | 0.008 | 0.200 | 3191 |
| 10 lb | 0.009 | 0.220 | 2638 |
| 12 lb | 0.010 | 0.250 | 2042 |
| 15 lb | 0.011 | 0.280 | 1628 |
| 20 lb | 0.013 | 0.330 | 1172 |
Choosing your Destron Monofilament strength
For the original chart, 8/10/12/15/20 lb corresponds to .20/.22/.25/.28/.33 mm. Select the strength for the rod and presentation before deciding whether the resulting diameter suits the reel.
Do not transfer a 300-yard Destron Essential specification or a Destron braid diameter into this nylon table. Original monofilament, Essential monofilament and braid are separately named products.
The original quarter-pound chart begins at 8 lb. This guide covers 8, 10, 12, 15 and 20 lb only; it does not infer a 6 lb size or borrow its dimensions from Destron Essential.
A source-based specification and setup guide, not a hands-on review or an independent diameter test.

Use the matching package column
The chart gives 2,638 yards at 10 lb, 2,042 at 12 lb and 1,628 at 15 lb. The shared quarter-pound label does not make these equal-length spools. Subtract line already used before planning another fill.
Separate capacity from bulk inventory
A 150-yard working section is only part of the 1,628-yard 15 lb package. The calculator estimates the reel volume for that section; it does not mean the reel holds the entire bulk package.
Keep the original label with the remainder
Retain the product name, test and remaining-length estimate when storing a partly used spool. Check for damage and follow the reel fill clearance under even tension; nominal package length does not establish the condition of stored line.
