Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

Official Daiwa J-Braid Grand X8 product packaging

J-Braid Grand X8 is Daiwa's eight-carrier IZANAS mainline. This guide is anchored to the US Gray Light specification set, whose SKU rows explicitly identify pound test, diameter, and package length. It is separate from standard J-Braid X8 and the newer Expedition line.

Construction
Eight-carrier IZANAS braid; US Gray Light SKUs
Listed strengths
8-150 lb
Line type
Braid main line

Is J-Braid Grand X8 right for your setup?

Consider Grand X8 when an eight-carrier braid fits your casting or mainline needs. The Gray Light color and listed diameters help identify this version; they do not promise a measured casting-distance or abrasion advantage. Match the strength to the tackle before comparing capacity.

Choosing your J-Braid Grand X8 strength

The 20 lb row is .009 inch / .23 mm; 30 lb is .011 inch / .28 mm. Moving up in strength uses more spool space even within the same Grand X8 family.

The verified Gray Light range here starts at 8 lb. The listed 6 lb pair, .003 inch and .10 mm, is held for clarification rather than passed through as a coherent pair.

At the heavy end, 100 and 120 lb are verified in 3,000-yard bulk spools; the 150 lb row is 2,500 yards. Package length cannot be copied across the entire strength range.

Specification-based guidance, not a hands-on J-Braid Grand X8 test. Capacity results are estimates, not measured fills.

Filler lengths vary by strength

The verified 8-65 lb Gray Light rows include 150- and 300-yard fillers plus 3,000-yard bulk. The 80 lb entry has 300 and 3,000 yards; heavier sizes follow their own package rows.

Check Gray Light on the SKU

This evidence set ends in GL. Other colors have gaps or conflicting cells in the live sheet, so their missing specifications are not filled from these rows.

Do not equate full capacity with a working fill

Bulk supplies can serve several reels. Decide how much usable braid and reserve you need, then calculate backing for the remaining volume.

J-Braid Grand X8 questions, answered

Is Grand X8 standard J-Braid X8?

No. Grand is a separate eight-carrier product, and this page uses its own US Gray Light SKU set.

Does every strength come in 150 yards?

No. The verified Gray Light 150-yard range here ends at 65 lb. Use the package attached to the selected strength.

Why choose one color for evidence?

It preserves exact SKU context. Missing or conflicting cells in another color are not permission to assume that color has identical specifications.

Checked 2026-09-13. Product-linked Daiwa LINES sheet and Gray Light product identity. Other-color missing labels and Dark Green 100lb diameter conflict are documented separately.

Calculations use the catalog's listed inch diameters. Published inch and millimeter values may differ slightly because of rounding.
